Eduardo Serrano Sanz obtains the Medal for Professional Merit awarded by the Spanish Association of Civil Engineers19/05/2010 (Spain)
Eduardo Serrano Sanz, Doctor of Civil Engineering and General Director of SENER’s Procurement and Construction Division, has received the Medal for Professional Merit awarded by the Spanish Association of Civil Engineers (Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos). The ceremony was held on May 18th in Madrid and was conducted by Juan Francisco Lazcano Acedo, Vice-President of the Association, accompanied by members of the Managing Board of the Association. During the event they were given six Honor Medals and eighteen Medals for Professional Merit.
The Medal acknowledges his forty-seven-year career. Of this time, Eduardo Serrano devoted fourteen years to civil engineering and marine engineering and thirty-three years to management positions within SENER Grupo de Ingeniería, including four years as member of the Board of Directors.
Eduardo Serrano Sanz has developed most of his career at SENER, after a four-year stint at the Bilbao Port Authority, from 1963 to 1967, first as an engineer in the Projects and Construction Department and later as Head of Operations of the Bilbao Port. In 1967 he joined SENER Técnica Industrial y Naval, S.A., where he held several positions, first as Head of the Civil Department and later as Manager of the Maritime Works and Shipyards Department, followed by a period as Director of the Industrial and Nuclear Division and ultimately as General Director. After the creation of SENER Ingeniería y Sistemas, S.A. in 1988, he went on to work as Director of the Bilbao Division, a position he held until 1994, when he was appointed Operations Director, position which he held until 2006. Among his achievements during this time, Eduardo Serrano created and implemented the SENER quality assurance and management system, which received the ISO 9001 certificate in 1994 for all fields of activity and all working centres. He has worked as General Director of the SENER Ingeniería y Sistemas Procurement and Construction Division since 2007 for all projects and offices worldwide. Throughout his professional career, he has maintained consulting skills in his original field –planning, engineering and operation of ports and maritime works–, making major contributions to projects of this type carried out by SENER.
The Medal for Professional Merit from the Spanish College of Civil Engineers acknowledges a long career of outstanding professionalism.
