One million hours without accidents in Oman

SENER has reached its one millionth hour without accidents on the project to modernize two petroleum plants for Petroleum Development Oman LLC (PDO), the largest exploration and production company of the Sultanate of Oman, and one of the world's top oil and gas firms.

The modernization work is being performed on the Saih Nihayda gas plant and the Saih Rawl processing plant, located in the middle of the country near the city of Qarn Alam, and spaced 35 km apart from each other. Once the plants have been modified, PDO will be able to maximize its recovery of the petroleum condensates that are present in the natural gas it extracts from wells.

As part of this project, SENER and its partner OHL have organized an event to celebrate their one-millionth hour without accidents at the plant. Improved safety systems has translated into magnificent results for the employees who are working on remodeling the plants and on their safety.

For OHL Industrial and SENER, this has been their first contract in Oman – a strategic country in the oil and gas sector, with large petroleum reserves and where investment is expected to boom in the coming years.

SENER's project in Oman reaffirms the group's presence in the Middle East, in a country where SENER is also working on Section 1 of the national rail network. In this same region, the company has acted as an independent consulting engineer (ICE) in Qatar, where it also supervised construction of the Lusail light rail metro. Meanwhile, in Doha, it is designing the civil engineering works for the elevated section of Red Line South. And lastly, in the United Arab Emirates SENER is working on the Etihad rail network, having finished the LRT in Abu Dhabi, where its offices are located.
