SENER participates in UNVEX S&D 2018 as a supplier of components and equipment for the Defence sector16/05/2018 (Spain)
SENER will participate, for another year, in UNVEX Security & Defense (S&D) 2018, a trade show for unmanned air vehicles (UAV) held from 29 to 31 May in León (Spain). UNVEX S&D 2018 includes a series of high-level conferences, an exhibition of companies and institutions from the field of UAV, and a programme of real demonstrations of these aircraft at the Conde de Gazola and Virgen del Camino military bases, both located near to the city of León.
SENER will participate in each of these areas. In the exhibition space, SENER will share a stand with its partner, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), to showcase the remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) MALE (Medium Altitude/Long Endurance) Predator B, selected by the Spanish Ministry of Defence in 2016 to fulfil the surveillance and reconnaissance requirements of Spain.
SENER is a technology partner of GA-ASI for the integration of the RPAS MALE MQ-9 Predator B in Spain, as well as for providing the support during the life cycle of the program, as required by the Spanish Air Force. In addition, SENER is expected to produce and provide support for components of the Predator B series under an agreement between both companies.
The MQ-9 Predator B of GA-ASI is a highly sophisticated RPAS that can be operated by either Line-of-Sight or Beyond Line-of-Sight/satellite data link control. It has a maximum altitude of 14,325 meters, a flight endurance of up to 26 hours, and a speed of 240 kts, while providing an external payload capacity of 1,700 kg. Highly reliable, the MQ-9 fleet has surpassed two million flight hours and is used by a growing list of a NATO allies. This advanced RPAS is one of the UAVs that spectators will be able to see in operation during the air demonstrations at Conde de Gazola and Virgen del Camino.
Lastly, on 29 May, at 12 pm, during the series of conferences, SENER will present the entitled ‘Communication systems for RPA’. In the conference the company will explain the latest-generation comprehensive multi-band datalink system for high-performance RPAS developed by SENER. This innovation was made possible thanks to SENER's experience in multi-band communications, X and K bands, for space missions, especially in scientific programmes for the European Space Agency (ESA).
In the Defence sector, SENER is a supplier of electromechanical systems, COMINT, communication systems, and helicopter modernisation services. In all these fields, SENER offers a complete service, from design to production (including the production of series), as well as the integration and maintenance of the product throughout its lifecycle. Furthermore, its ability to manage multidisciplinary projects enables it to lead and participate in defence programmes that involve integrated systems.

The icebreaker vessel ‘Almirante Irizar’, modernized by SENER has conducted navigation tests, with basic and detailed engineering performed by the Structures, Weaponry, Electricity and Accommodation disciplines.[+]
